History
Nestled in Knox County's southwest corner, St. Augustine, founded in 1836, boasts a rich history. Originally in Fulton County, it strategically moved to Knox County, aligning itself with the railroad line.
|
The church was originally built in 1863 under the supervision of Father Allbrecht, and was at one time across the county line in Fulton County. A few years after being built, "Father Larmer removed it to it's current site". The original priest's house built about 1874-75, burned down in 1911, and the present parsonage was built in 1912
