Many country churches have closed their doors due to a dwindling congregation, but the Orange Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 951 Knox Highway 27, rural Gilson, has served the rural community since 1856. The original church was made out of brick. The small, white chapel was built in 1900 and contains many original stained glass windows.

Before leaving, relax a bit, and visit with the friendly folk who faithfully attend this serene church in the middle of the countryside. And be sure to pick up some homemade peanut brittle and baked goodies for snacking on later in the day.
